Topographic Maps: Knox

County Maps: Clarion

Description: This is a relatively short section (3.3 miles), but there is no take‑out at the mouth so you will have to travel 2.3 miles on the Clarion. Starts off by flowing flat and swift through scrubby forest and willows. Then turns to a Hemlock setting with some logging damage. Not too obstructed. It then starts seriously dropping as it approaches Interstate 80 with continuous rapids of ledges and boulders. [Reported 1993]

Difficulties: many undercut rocks after Interstate 80

Shuttle: The put‑in is on Township Road 322 at Jefferson Station about 1.2 miles northwest of Wentlings Corners. To get to the take‑out, return to Wentlings Corners and turn left/south on State Route 338. Follow State Route 338 for about 1.3 miles to State Route 3009. Turn left/south onto State Route 3009 and follow it to State Route 58. Turn left/southeast on State Route 58 and follow for 2.6 miles to the bridge on the Clarion River.

Gauge: None.

Normal Wet Period: No available statistics on seasons. Since this section is tiny, it should normally be runnable only after a heavy rain or during spring snowmelt.
